Short Muhurat timing for Rakhi since, Chandra Grahan and Rakhi Poornima are on the same day.

Festival of Raksha Bandhan falls on 7th August 2017. It is a very auspicious festival celebrated throughout Bharat. Raksha bandhan is celebrated by tying a scared thread on brother’s wrist by his sister.

Generally sisters all over India tie Rakhi anytime of the day, but as per our ancient hindu belief, it should be tied only during auspicious Muhrat time. Every year there are at least two Muhrat during the day one in the morning and one in the evening.

This year the auspicious Muhrat to tie Rakhi is from 11:05 AM to 13:50 PM IST.

This year as the full lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan) falls on the same day. The duration of Lunar eclipse and 9hrs prior to it are considered impure to perform any auspicious ritual. Hence there is only one Muhrata for Rakhi on this Raksha Bandhan in 2017.
